ScratchOut Division

ScratchOut glass Scratch-removal and Polishing System

ScratchOut Division is the South African representative for a Unique, American, Patented

Scratch-Removal System.

Sourced through Glass Technics , UK, this is the original system that has been laboratory tested to ANSI/SAE Z26.1-1990 standards in the USA, and to BSI ECE Regulation 43 in the UK and is shown to be distortion free against these Standards.

The System has also been very successfully tested by BAe Systems, SGS and the FAA .

Scratches removed – No distortion

ScratchOut Division's "Distortion Free Scratch-removal System" is Non-Abrasive. It does not remove the surrounding layers of glass in order to repair a scratch. Certain deep scratches and pits, such as those resulting from grinder spatter are best abraded before polishing. This may give rise to varying degrees of visual distortion, dependent upon the skill of the Operator. The process of scratch repair is not an “instant-fix” - sufficient time must be afforded to allow the Operator to carefully complete the repair. (See the photos above: Abrasion was used to prepare the damaged area for polishing.)

The special compounds and pads are the “key” to the ScratchOut System's unique ability to successfully repair all the usual types of damaged architectural glass. A complete process is created where mechanical, chemical, and polishing actions combine, together with heat and water in

various stages, so that glass molecules are moved to fill the scratch. The polishing action is always Non-Abrasive, i.e. it will not cause visual distortion. Should it be necessary to first prepare severe scratches by abrading the damage before polishing, then any resultant distortion to the field of view results from this deliberate removal of surface glass, not from the polishing process that follows.

To this day, these products constitute the only* scratch removal system on the global market that have documentation to prove their

non-distortive capabilities when properly used for removing scratches or graffiti and when polishing glass.

*July 2009: We have not yet heard of any other scratch removal system claiming this Certification against “National Authority” standards.

Sheer Force are the Inventors, not the imitators

* Applications *

Repairable damage can be caused by: water scale; acid etching; removing of paint over-spray;

diamond rings; sand, grit and dust; paint scrapers or scourers; animal claws, vandals and graffiti,

or even by every-day mishaps, etc.

* Graffiti Removal *

Graffiti on glass is illegal art - and it's everywhere, in every country - on shop windows,

bus shelters and phone boxes, trains and train stations, buses and coaches, also school

and college windows. Despite it being illegal, graffiti artists ignore the law and continue

with their 'tagging'.

Many graffiti artists use chemical acids which make the marks virtually impossible to

remove by normal scrubbing methods. Items like screws and spark plugs are also used

to damage glass surfaces - particularly Shop-fronts.

ScratchOut Division's scratch removal system will remove graffiti from all types of glass.

ScratchOut Division's * User Interface *

Users generally fall into one of two groups:

a) Those who have once-off or irregular needs; and

b) Those who have a regular requirement for this process.

The first group benefit most from engaging one of ScratchOut's trained technicians to

repair the scratch/es on a Contract Basis.

The second group usually find it easy to justify the purchase of a ScratchOut Kit so as

to have immediate access to the repair capability of this remarkable System.

* Consultancy, Training and Backup Services * For owners of ScratchOut Kits.

Repairing a valuable glass wall – New 'grade A' office

ScratchOut Division trains Scratch-removal Technicians in the basics of scratch repair whenever a new Kit is purchased.

The technique is easy to learn and, as with any manipulative skill, continually improves as each new job is tackled.

Just as a pianist develops an individual “signature”, so each Technician finds their own “style” of repairing scratches.

ScratchOut Division offers: >Full consultancy, training and continual backup services to existing and potential clients.

>We hold sufficient stock to ensure that every job meets it's deadline.

>We are able to travel within South Africa and to neighbouring countries to undertake:

>Training on the use of our equipment.

>To assist new businesses to start up and to advise on technical issues with regard to glass scratch-removal.

Scratched Windscreen Repair

This is one of the more difficult repairs to undertake. Definitely “not for an amateur”! However it is possible to obtain a result that saves significant sums of money, provided that the glass is not too deeply scratched. Only an experienced operator is able to determine this.

We intend our service to be “legendary”.

Frosted Glass and it's ScratchOut Division are registered as an Unashamedly Ethical

business. ( www.unashamedlyethical.com )

Our commitment to Ethical Dealing is reflected in every interaction that we have with our customers.

* Glass Scratch Removal Services *

Through our network of Independent ScratchOut Operators:– Business people who repair scratched glass - we will happily assist you

in all your glass scratch-removal requirements.

ScratchOut Division's unique Glass Scratch-removal System is unlike any other scratch removal process available globally. When repairing fine scratches it does not use abrasive pads or compounds, so does not leave a low spot in the glass that causes visual distortion.

Where extreme damage has occurred, as in the Angle Grinder cuts, above, it will always be necessary to abrade the work area. While this certainly results in visual distortion, the experience transferred to the ScratchOut Technicians, during their training, enables them to create a repair that is well within the client's expectations, unlike the “repair” shown below:

This photo showing wavy lines, clearly shows distortion to the view through the glass after scratches were removed. This is the result of using an aggressive abrasive system, coupled with low skills.

Glass Scratch-removal Kit

The ScratchOut Glass Scratch Repair System, available as a complete Kit – including Operator

Training - will remove 90% of all scratches and stains from flat and curved glass, when properly

used, either without distortion or without unacceptable distortion.

*Available in South Africa, only from ScratchOut Division.*

(Address below)

Training in the use of the ScratchOut equipment is included in the purchase price; as is comprehensive, on-going support.

Most on-the-job difficulties arise from the Technician not having encountered that particular circumstance before and can be easily resolved over-the-telephone. This means that free back-up is usually available around-the-clock! Should an intractable problem present, we are happy to travel to “site”. In such cases, a charge may be levied.

The Bottom Line”

ScratchOut Division's business philosophy is Unashamedly Ethical –

www.unashamedlyethical.com If you cannot realise an honest profit through purchasing a

ScratchOut Kit and, from our experience we know it, we shall advise you not to buy but

to engage one of the ScratchOut business operators to effect the required repair

on a Contract basis and this advice will only be given if a greater benefit will accrue from using

ScratchOut

as opposed to replacing the glass with new material.

We are of the opinion that access to ScratchOut's proven scratch repair capability will enable any user / installer of glass to

meet their customer's expectations

in terms of quality and timely delivery. So building a reputation as a Reliable Supplier.

This type of “Good-will” cannot be quantified until “hard-times” present and the ScratchOut user's business remains sound

while others struggle.
